Live-In home infant care is the best gift you can give your child.

For Families - Live-In

Hiring a live-in nanny is an excellent option for families seeking full-time childcare and comes with many advantages. It is a true luxury to have a nanny based out of your home for the flexibility they can provide. The benefits of hiring live-in childcare includes more elastic scheduling on a day-to-day basis, a built-in childcare option for when you are away from home, and traveling childcare for when your family vacations together.

We place live-in nannies across the United States! As members of the International Nanny Association and the Alliance of Premier Nanny Agencies, we are well-integrated in the national market and are connected with great nannies across the country. Just like our live-out services, our goal is to find families the right match in their nanny. Frequently Asked Questions

How much should I pay a live-in nanny?
Live-in nannies’ salaries are based on their education and experience level. The salary range is greatly dependent on the area in which the nanny will be employed. Please call us for guidance on salaries in your area. Families are not required to pay overtime for a live-in nanny, but all nannies must be compensated at least minimum wage. *There are some exemptions to the overtime pay laws, please contact Breedlove & Associates for information on your jurisdiction.

What are typical live-in accommodations and benefits?
To employ a live-in nanny, families must be able to provide a separate bedroom for the nanny at a minimum. It is typical for nannies to have a private bedroom and bathroom. For nannies, it is most appealing to be living on a separate level of the home from the family or be provided with separate living quarters. Accommodations that are preferable but not required include a private entrance, telephone line, cable or satellite, and use of a vehicle.
A nanny is typically given two weeks of paid vacation, as well as paid holidays. It is also typical for families to provide health insurance or a monthly stipend towards health insurance. We can guide you on what is appropriate for your position.

Who pays for the nanny to relocate?
The hiring family should pay for the nanny’s airfare to relocate in order to work for the family. Some families also cover moving expenses including shipping.

How long does it take to find a live-in nanny?
As soon as our initial consultation is complete we begin screening candidates and recruiting for your position immediately. Once we find the candidate you would like to hire, we begin investigative checks. In total, the process can take 3-8 weeks. It is recommended that you register with ABC Nannies 6-8 weeks before you need the nanny to start.

What support do you provide my family with after our nanny is placed?
The happiness of you and your nanny is supremely important to us. If, for whatever reason, you are dissatisfied with you nanny within the first three months of her service, we will provide you with one replacement nanny at no charge to you. If you need a replacement after the first three months, we will issue a pro-rated credit that can be applied to your next placement. We develop a relationship with all of our families and nannies and maintain contact with you even after your nanny has been placed.

How do I start the process?
The first step is to fill out the Family Application and Agreement and mail, fax or scan/email it back to us. From there, one of our placement consultants will contact you to set up a consultation to begin your search!
