ABC Nanny EventsSince ABC Nannies, Inc. was founded in 1994 we have hosted regular quarterly events for our nannies and their charges. Having been nannies before, we know how important it is for nannies to have a support network of other child care professionals they can lean on and network with. Over the years we've hosted a variety of events from outings to the Denver Zoo to Chuck E Cheeses to the Children's Museum. Some of our most successful and highly attended events are our Annual Summer Nanny Picnic, our Nanny Appreciation Party and our Nanny Development Conference. We are also proud to do continuing education seminars and professional development conferences/events for our nannies on an annual basis. In 2012, ABC Nannies will be the host of National Nanny Training Day--on April 28, 2012--details to be announced soon. We email invitations to all of the nannies we've placed over the years and others who have expressed interest in being part of our growing nanny network. If you are not on our list yet, but would like to be please email us at Info@ABCNannies.com with your name, address, email address and phone number. In this packed session specifically designed for nannies working in private homes, we will identify what PMAD’s are and what they are not, how to recognize signs and symptoms in the moms, how to support a mom who is experiencing this, including what to say, what not to say, etc. and last but not least how to support the partner and children who are also in the mix. Mary Schroeter is a social worker, therapist for Sweet Beginnings in Littleton, Colorado State Coordinator for Postpartum Support International and a mom of three children, ages 11, 9 and 8. She obtained her MSW in 1999, worked in child protection with Adams County Dept. of Social Services and then had her first child. She experienced Perinatal Mood/Anxiety Disorders after the births of two of her three children. Since that time, she has been writing a memoir about her experiences, and has devoted her life to increasing awareness, providing education and de-bunking the myths about the mood changes that affect most women in the perinatal period. Mary provides individual counseling and offers support groups for women and new parents. Beyond the Basics: Advanced Love & Logic Techniques for Professional Nannies with Pauline Denning and Bobbie Heit Presenting as a team, who has come highly recommended by the Love & Logic Institute, we are excited to welcome Pauline Denning and Bobbie Heit to NNTD-Denver! As our nannies know, offering children choices can be powerful, but the process is full of pitfalls too. Bobbie and Pauline will offer advice on how to foolproof this powerful Love and Logic strategy as well as some L&L magic to help kids solve their own problems, resolve conflict and make friends. Pauline and Bobbie have been using Love & Logic for the last 27 years with their own children, their grand children, and their students. Their passion for this method of behavior management prompted them to be gin speaking together over 5 years ago and they've been sharing their wisdom with groups big and small ever since. Pauline and her late husband Ron raised four children. Pauline is the proud grandmother of six. Now retired, she was a teacher, assistant principal and librarian for thirty years in Loveland, Colorado. Bobbie Heit and her husband Joe have four great kids who are all married and are their most precious and proud works of their life. In addition to being an active grandmother of seven, Bobbie enjoyed a long career as a teacher in the Denver area. She has taught first graders through seniors in public, parochial and charter schools. Bobbie and Pauline have facilitated Love and Logic classes in a variety of settings, ranging from church and Mothers of Preschoolers (MPOS) groups to teacher trainings in public and private schools. They credit Love and Logic with much of their success in creating positive and loving relationships with their own children and with their students and helping all of them to become confident, successful and independent adults. Shake Your Booty! Getting Your Charges Fit Through Music and Movement with Cindy Wilkinson Participants will learn some great activities to get their charges off the couch, away from their game boy, and up and moving!! We will integrate movement with both music and art, promoting fitness while also fostering creativity. This is a hands-on workshop in which participants will learn how to create their own clogging board and then try some dancing moves themselves, while also experimenting with the Jackson Pollack technique of painting. There will be lots of hand-outs shared with additional resources for great CDS, informative websites, and more cool activities for kids. Cindy Wilkinson has a BA degree in Sociology and Early Childhood Education from the University of Nebraska/Kearney and additional training from St. Nicholas Montessori Training Centre (correspondence course). We were happy to welcome 60+ nannies to the event. And were thrilled to recognize all 11 of our Nanny of the Year nominees (see Nanny of the Year page for all the details) that evening as well as crown our winner, Joy DeBoer, and our runner-up, LanLan Liu. All 11 women are outstanding representations of ABC Nannies and the larger Denver nanny community. As we do every year, we look forward to seeing our favorite nannies, and their nanny friends, again at our National Nanny Training Day on April 28th, 2012 and at our summer picnic held in August. ________________________________________ Nominate your employer forEmployer of the Year:Nominate the family you work with for ABC Employer of the Year!
