Schedule & Guaranteed Hours: The family is looking for the chef to cook 3 to 4 dinners per week, ideally Monday through Thursday. The preference is for dinners to be prepared in-home, with grocery shopping handled by the chef (reimbursed by the family). More details below.

Live-In / Live-Out: Live-out

Commitment/Contract Length: This is a 3 to 6 month commitment with the opportunity to extend.

A peek behind the front door...

Children's Ages: It's a busy home with five active, social and upbeat teenagers! However, several of the children are in the home part-time only.

About the Family:

This is a blended family of seven—two adults and five teens—though not all children are in the home every week.
Mom and dad both work full-time, and have demanding careers. They are kind, thoughtful, generous and eager to have someone help them make those crazy evenings run a little smoother! Goodbye fast food!

Additional Notes:

Since this is a blended family, flexibility around portion sizes is preferred.
They are open to two types of schedules:.
- Evening prep: Chef comes in later in the day two days a week. They would prep a meal and then serve a hot and fresh meal that would be ready by 5:00 PM, with clean-up completed by 5:30–6:00 PM
- Morning prep: Chef comes in earlier in the day, twice a week to prepare a meal for that night and prep a meal for the next night. Although not ideal, they are open to this at a lower rate.

Key Responsibilities

A day in the life...

Standard Duties:

All standard meal prep duties, including grocery shopping, cooking in the home, and cleaning up after cooking.
There are no special dietary needs, aside from one child who is dairy-free (when that child is in the home, one meal should be dairy-free). The kids also do not love fish, so fish-free meals are requested when the children are present.

There are no travel requirements for this job.

Desired Skills and Abilities

The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following qualifications…

Family will give preference to candidates who have 3-5+ years of experience working professionally as a restaurant chef, private chef, or meal prep chef is require.
Safe cooking certifications and or training would be ideal.
Must have experience accommodating dairy-free needs.
Formal culinary training or a degree in culinary arts is strongly preferred.
The ability to plan a menu at least 2 weeks in advance, for approval, will be needed.
All candidates should submit a Chef resume and a sample menu showcasing range and specialties before an interview will be scheduled.
The ideal candidate for the job will be positive and professional, reliable and timely, experienced and ready to provide hands-on support for this busy family.

Compensation and Benefits

Rate of Pay (gross):

The family is open to offering a competitive weekly or hourly rate based on the candidate's experience. Range could be from $35/hour to $55/hour BOE.

Benefits and Perks Offered:

No benefits beyond guaranteed hours are being offered at this time.

Have a minimum of 3+ years of professional cooking, chef, and/or meal prep experience with references.
Are 18+ years old and a high school graduate.
Have a reliable vehicle, a valid driver’s license, and proof of auto insurance
Are authorized to work in the U.S. without restriction
Are a non-smoker
