Family and Household Dynamics

A peek behind the front door...

Children's Ages: Care will be for two school-aged children, ages 9 and 6.
About the Children:
  • The family's 9-year-old son is bright, curious, friendly, imaginative, and loves learning. He is neurodivergent: twice-exceptional (ADHD/mild Autism Spectrum Disorder/highly gifted). He thrives with structure, consistency, preparation, and caregivers who understand that his needs may shift and change over time. He benefits from support with transitions, social situations, and impulse control, and does best with adults who are patient, calm, understanding, and proactive. He enjoys spending time with trusted adults and naturally gravitates toward older children and adults. The family is looking for someone who can build a strong connection with him while also encouraging positive peer relationships and independence. Collaboration with teachers and other professionals may occasionally be part of the role, as the family views their caregiver as an important member of their support team.
  • The family's 6-year-old daughter is also bright, curious, and imaginative. She is kind, loving, energetic, and incredibly social. While she can initially be a little timid in new situations, she quickly makes friends and is well-liked by her peers. She has a perfectionist streak and can become hesitant when faced with tasks that feel challenging, but she thrives with encouragement and positive reinforcement.
About the Family:
  • Dual work-from-home parents
About the Pets:
  • The family has one sweet, older hypoallergenic dog. Responsibilities may occasionally include taking the dog for a walk and a trip to the groomer.
Additional Notes:
  • They are seeking a long-term, trusted professional who will become an extension of their family. The family has previously had wonderful experiences with caregivers who were patient, kind, flexible, and truly understood how to support neurodivergent children.
