Family and Household Dynamics

A peek behind the front door...

Children's Ages: Care will be for two children a newborn and a 3.5 year old.
About the Children:

The oldest child is in daycare full time, so most of the day will be spent on household management and childcare for the baby. The oldest will be home between 5 and 6 pm as well as on days school is closed.

About the Family:
  • Dual-working parents who work from home.
  • Mom and Dad do like to be involved with the baby throughout the day.
About the Pets:
  • Two dogs and two cats live in this home.
Additional Notes:
  • Mom and Dad are hands-on parents and plan to spend meaningful time with the baby throughout the day. During those moments, the Family Assistant will be expected to stay busy supporting the household—taking initiative with laundry, tidying, errands, meal prep, and general home management. They are seeking a candidate who is proactive, helpful, and enjoys being of service. This is a great fit for someone who genuinely loves household management, as this role is not centered around full-time childcare.

Key Responsibilities

A day in the life...

Standard Duties:
  • This position includes all standard Family Assistant responsibilities such as meal prepping,  light housekeeping, tidying the kitchen, wiping down surfaces, Swiffering, picking up around the house, vacuuming, assisting with family laundry and dishes, walking the family dog, and helping with organizational projects. The ideal candidate will have a proactive, can-do attitude and a willingness to jump in wherever needed. The family also employs a housekeeper who comes twice a month to handle deep cleaning tasks.
Travel Requirements:
  • No travel is required for this position.

Desired Skills and Abilities

The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following qualifications…

  • 2 years of experience with infants and toddlers.
  • At least 2+ years of previous experience with household management duties.
  • One or two sentences about the ideal candidate for the job.
  • The ideal candidate for this role will be a natural helper, someone who takes initiative and finds ways to stay busy without needing direction. Mom and Dad will be home and plan to spend time with their new baby throughout the day, so it’s important that the Family Assistant is comfortable stepping away from nanny duties and shifting focus as needed. Clear boundaries will be set, and the Family Assistant will always be informed when they are expected to take the lead on childcare versus when the parents are hands-on.
  • Must be a good communicator and have a positive attitude.
  • This position is best suited for someone who is flexible, open-minded, and receptive to feedback. The family values a candidate who is not set in their ways, but instead brings a collaborative, can-do attitude and is eager to grow with the role.
