Family and Household Dynamics

A peek behind the front door...

Children's Ages: Care will be for two girls, ages 9 and 6 years old.
About the Children:
  • The oldest is kind, bright, creative and strong-willed. She enjoys gymnastics, drama and soccer and benefits from gentle, patient guidance with homework and transitions. She has dyslexia, mild ADHD and a chronic gastrointestinal condition. She works regularly with a tutor and thrives with structure, consistency, kind communication and loving support.
  • The youngest is sweet, easygoing and playful. She also participates in soccer and gymnastics and enjoys warm, nurturing attention.
  • Both girls attend school during the academic year and participate in summer programs. They’ll do best with a Family Assistant who can create engaging, screen-free afternoons while helping them move smoothly through homework, activities, dinner and evening routines.
About the Family:
  • Both parents have demanding professional schedules and divide their work time between home offices and private office spaces outside the home. Dad travels regularly for work.
  • The family values calm, respectful communication and uses a thoughtful parenting approach centered on positive behavior support and emotional regulation.
  • They maintain a clean, health-conscious lifestyle and prioritize fresh, minimally processed foods. They avoid artificial dyes, seed oils and heavily processed ingredients.
  • The parents are seeking a capable, trustworthy Family Assistant who’ll work independently, take ownership of the afternoon routine and become a valued long-term part of their household.
About the Pets:
  • There are currently no pets in the home, although the family may get a dog in the future.
Additional Notes:
  • This is a returning ABC family who has had several successful nanny placements. They understand the value of a professional household employee and hope to build another strong, long-term relationship.
  • Grandma visits occasionally and is a warm, supportive presence in the household.
  • The Family Assistant should be available for approximately three to five overnights per year, along with occasional extended evening coverage when Dad is traveling.

Key Responsibilities

A day in the life...

Standard Duties:
  • All standard Family Assistant duties, including caring for and transporting the children, children’s laundry, grocery shopping, household errands, managing inventory, accepting deliveries and coordinating vendors.
  • Plan and prepare approximately three healthy family dinners each week, along with meals and snacks for the children.
  • Assist with light household tidying, dry cleaning or laundry pick-up, household projects and basic upkeep of the family vehicles, including fueling, washes and maintenance appointments.
Travel Requirements:
  • No family travel is required. The candidate should be available for approximately three to five overnights per year in the family’s home.

Desired Skills and Abilities

  • The ideal candidate will be confident managing the afternoon independently and comfortable moving between household responsibilities and hands-on childcare. This person will notice what needs to be done, use good judgment and follow through without requiring frequent direction.
  • The family is looking for someone who is kind, patient with the children during difficult periods, nurturing and emotionally mature. They’ll value a calm, positive professional who consistently uses respectful language, even during challenging moments, and who is genuinely interested in building a long-term relationship with one family.
